Binchester shock Thorns with three-goal fightback Division One round-up
BINCHESTER Social Club were another club to bounce back from three goals down, but they managed to pinch a point from Thorns in the first division.
Two goals by Sean Lonthorne and one from Danny Lee put Thorns firmly in the driving seat.
But Binchester bounced back in style thanks to Lee Furber, Gavin Dunnett and Chris Pickles.
Binchester’s Gavin Dunnett said: “Once we got the first one back we were well up for it and grabbed the second within two or three minutes of the re-start. We’ve gone on to get the equaliser and by that point we might have gone on to win it, but it was a good result for us.”
Thorns’ Steve Richardson added: “We were cruising with 20 minutes to go at 3-0, but their goalkeeper has made some outstanding saves. We had chance after chance to kill the game off, but their ‘keeper has saved everything. But to give them their due, their tails were up when they got the first goal and they did well.”
Meanwhile, Quinns won 2-0 at Bay Horse thanks to goals by Dave Parker and Gareth Jackson.
