The biggest shock of the day was at Browney where the home side did something no side could manage for the whole of last season. That was to beat champions Masons Arms. Goals from Kitching and Wallace earned the points for a hardworking Browney side. This result allowed Quinns to take over at the top after a narrow 2-1 victory at Tudhoe. Bin.S.C. defeated New Brancepeth 5-3 with goals from Furber (2), Pickles (2) and Wheatley, Hindmarch (2) and Stewart replying. Tin Donkey scored through Anderson, Teder, Hammon, Hughes and Scott to beat Old Shildon 5-1, Hedley replying for Shildon. A struggling Voltigeur went down 7-0 to Lakeside. Division three is proving most unpredictable up to now with only Horse Shoe remaining unbeaten. Bay Horse won 5-3, which included a goal for seasoned campaigner Alderson, one each for Hodgson and Bowman, and 2 for Dixon. EBAC replied through Bell, Sowerby and Owen. Southern Club put themselves right back in contention with a 3-1 victory over Fox & Hounds. Goals from Nixon, Hudson and Redhead were enough with Walton replying for fox. Market Tavern went nap against George & Dragon scoring seven without reply.
