WINNERS TO BE UNVEILED
Jackson Anderson Accountants Spennymoor Sunday League
The Spennymoor Sunday League’s Player of the Season and Top Goalscorer awards will be unveiled at the league’s end-of-season presentation night on Friday 27th May.
Around 250 people are expected to pack into Old Shildon WMC for the 2004-05 gong-giving bash, when all league and cup winners will also receive their trophies and medals.
Trophies will be dished out to the winners of the Kelvin McIntosh Division Two Cup (Victoria), the Division One Cup (Thorns), the Paul Stevens Memorial Cup (Masons Arms), the B&A Trophy (Hunwick Joiners) and the League Cup (Masons Arms), while runners-up medals will also be handed out.
The Division One title shield will also be handed to Thorns, with Hunwick Joiners getting their runners-up medals, while Binchester Social Club will get their hands on the Division Two title shield, Eldon Arms getting runners-up medals.
Meanwhile, the Player of the Season and Top Goalscorer awards for both Division One and Division Two will be given out, while the Referee of the Year and Best New Referee will also be unveiled.
Finally, four awards for the Secretary of the Year award will be recognised.
“This is always the biggest date in our calendar,” said League Secretary Mike Hill. “It’s what the league is all about – winning silverware. After yet another hugely successful season, it’s always nice to wrap the year up with the presentation night and celebrate not only all our winners but the continued success of our league overall.”
• The next league meeting will be the league’s AGM, which is due to take place at the Lakeside, Woodham, Newton Aycliffe, on Wednesday 8th June, from 8pm. All clubs wishing to take part in the 2005-06 season must attend.
