LEAGUE CONTINUES CLUB LINK
THE Jackson Anderson Accountants Spennymoor Sunday League is once again giving its support to grass-roots football with a cash donation.
To continue their long and proud association, the Spenny league has donated £400 to Spennymoor United Football Club as part of the league’s ongoing support to the Unibond League club.Spennymoor League Treasurer Gary Livett is pictured handing over the £400 cheque to Spennymoor United’s Matchday Secretary Carole Thompson.
In return, Moors will allow the league to again stage its five cup finals at their Brewery Field ground at the end of the season and publish match reports and league tables in their matchday programmes.
Spennymoor League Secretary Mike Hill said: “I’m delighted to continue our unique relationship with Spennymoor United FC. This enhances the link between the most forward-thinking non-league side in the area and the most innovative Sunday league in the North-East, and not only does this help Spennymoor financially but will mean the reports of our games are read by supporters of Unibond League teams every week in their programmes.
“It also ensures our cup finals will be played at the best venue in the area for yet another season. The hospitality shown to the Jackson Anderson Spennymoor League has always been first class, and I’m sure that will continue for another season.”
Former Moors Secretary Brian Boughen, who established the relationship between the two organisations some years ago, still holds strong links with both the league and United.
“This is another positive step for both the league and the football club,” said Boughen. “The league has long been supporting the club, and this donation – like all sponsorships we receive – is extremely welcome, so we thank the league once again. Let’s hope the relationship can continue for many more seasons to come.”
