Athletic claim win No. 6
League round-up

SHILDON Athletic won their sixth league game of the season in Division Two with a 4-2 win at home to Hogans.

Chris Ross gave them a 1-0 lead before Jason Colley equalized. Goals by Peter Duce and Chris Ross gave Shildon a 3-1 lead, only for Mark Bell to reduce the arrears for Hogans.

But then Craig Mallon put the game beyond their reach with the fourth and final goal.

Shildon’s Alan Robertson said: “It was a good game, end-to-end stuff. The ball was all in the middle of the park but once we got the third goal we were on top and that was it.”

Elsewhere in Division Two, Half Moon won 4-3 at Penny Gill with goals by Michael Ferman (2) and Kris Kavanagh (2). Andrew Winter, Paul Gilham and Steven Bunning scored for the Penny.

Eldon Arms won 1-0 at Belvedere thanks to a goal by John “two stools” Sweeney.

In the only Division One game played last week, Michael Tinkler was on target twice for Binchester Social Club as they drew 2-2 with Croxdale, who had Andrew Smith and Karl Lamb on the scoresheet.

The game between Voltigeur and the Bay Horse was postponed.

In the only Division Three game last week, Aycliffe Village gained more ground on leaders Shildon Fox with a 9-2 win at home to Horndale Celtic.

Marc Addy scored a hat-trick and there was one each from Darren Griffiths, Callum Farley, Shaun Sproates, Jonny Craig, Carl Cook and Steve Moran, who’d dusted his old merlin boots down again. Michael Watson and Graeme Carling scored Horndale’s goals.
