Croxdale hammer Atlantic Bar for 17 Jackson Anderson Accountants Spennymoor Sunday League CROXDALE dished out a hammering to struggling Division Two side Atlantic Bar.
After the two sides drew 1-1 earlier in the season, the in-form league leaders hit top form and walloped their Darlington opponents 17-1. Striker Iain Ambrosini netted nine goals, while Brent Mailer (2), Kevin Hepburn (2), Gavin Bell (2), Phil Wilkinson and new signing James Murphy were also on the scoresheet in the amphatic win as the championship favourites reached double figures for the fourth time this season. “It was just our day!” beamed boss Craig Fish. “Everything we hit seemed to go in, it was one of those games. We played well and the lads wanted to put the 1-1 draw earlier in the season right, and we certainly did that!”
Meanwhile, Horndale Celtic and Ash Tree served up a scoring treat for League Secretary and snapper Mike Hill in the latest Game of the Week feature on spenny-league.com.
Elsewhere in Division Two, Quinns won 2-1 at the North Briton with first half goals by Chris Hodgson and Gareth Jackson. And despite a second half strike by Gary Donald, the Brit weren’t able to claw it back. Green Tree beat Half Moon 5-3 with goals by Gavin McIntyre (2), Barry Liddle, Matthew Carrick and Gavin Hutchinson, while New Brancepeth were 3-2 winners over Shildon Athletic. Masons United won 4-3 at the Southerne Club with goals by Lee Hall (3) and Mark Stewart. Sean Redpath, Clark Gale and Aiden Gouge scored Southerne’s goals. Victoria won 4-2 at Belvedere with goals by Jason Greenland (2), James Smith and John Templeton. Adrian Brown and Timmy Hutchinson scored for Belvedere.
Meanwhile, Lakeside progressed to the semi-finals of the Division One Cup with a narrow win over Voltigeur after a close battle. Volti took the lead through Gary Dixon, but Lakeside drew level before half-time through Martin Walker, who added a second after half-time to nudge his side ahead. Wayne Marram then headed a third to make it 3-1, but Dixon headed a second for Volti to ensure a nervy finish.
The semi-finals of the competition will consist of: Thorns, Masons Arms, Lakeside and Hunwick Joiners. In Division One league action last week, Tudhoe United drew 3-3 with Old Shildon, with goals by David Hugill, Paul Leadbitter and Allan Barratt. Craig Hutchinson (2) and Phillip Appleby scored for Shildon.
Masons Arms won 4-0 at Binchester Social Club with goals by Tom Fothergill (2), Kevin Sweeney and Anthony Warnett.
Thorns won 7-0 at Eldon Arms thanks to goals by Andrew Richardson (3), Ian Woodhall (3) and Mark Nicholson.
Bay Horse and Browney played out a 2-2 draw. Chris Wilson and Kyle Allen scored for the Horse. |
