‘RICKO’ SCOOPS PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Jackson Anderson Accountants Spennymoor Sunday League
ANDREW RICHARDSON was crowned the Spennymoor Sunday League Player of the Season at the league’s presentation night.
Around 250 people packed into Old Shildon WMC for the 2004-05 gong-giving bash on Friday 27th May.
And Thorns midfielder Richardson was awarded the Division One Player of the Season award after totting up 11 man-of-the-match awards over the course of the season.

Shaun Nicholson from Hunwick and Dale Anderson from Horndale notched up eight 8 man-of-the-match awards each in 2004-05.
Horndale’s Tony Stebbings won nine, while runner-up Michael Davidson – from the Grand – won ten.

Meanwhile, Shildon Athletic’s Jamie Scaife won the Division Two Player of the Season award after winning 11 MOMs.
Gary Donald (North Briton) and Chris Strong (Masons United) won ten man-of-the-match awards over the course of the season.

Tony Stebbings (Horndale) and James Melville (Hunwick Joiners) were joint Top Scorers in Division One after both scoring 32 goals. Thorns’ Ian Woodhall chipped in with a commendable 25 goals, finishing fifth top scorer, while Andrew Richardson (also of Thorns) scored 27. Masons Arms’ Kevin Dodds scored 27 goals


Chris Pickles scooped the Division Two Top Goalscorer award after amassing 51 goals over the 2004-05 campaign, while Jamie Scaife narrowly missed out on the award after scoring 50 goals. Andrew Sams of Shildon Athletic finished third in the scoring charts with 39 goals.


Mickey Grimes was awarded the Best New Referee shield, while Tommy Lye won the Referee of the Year award.
Finally, Steve Richardson (Thorns), Wayne Stout (Shildon Athletic), Dave Sayers (Eldon Arms) and Steve Sutton (Binchester SC) were all presented with Secretary of the Year awards.
