Two goals enough for Brit
Division One round-up

NORTH BRITON dented Tudhoe United’s title charge with a home win thanks to a goal on either side of half-time.

Tudhoe shocked champions Thorns a week earlier with a 2-1 victory, but had that cancelled out with a defeat at the Brit, who jumped up a couple of places with the victory.

Steve Hepples and Marc De Lucia scored the goals – and stand-in manager Malcolm Scott praised his players.

“I thought we pretty much dominated in midfield,” he said. “And our defenders also played very well and contained their strikers, so our goalkeeper didn’t have a lot to do.

“We knew they had just beaten Thorns and there was a lot of talk of that in our changing room before the game, but we just stuck to our game and thankfully that paid off.”

Meanwhile, Old Shildon won 2-1 at Voltigeur with a Martin Hedley brace, Gary Dixon scoring Voltigeur’s.

Bay Horse won 5-0 at Croxdale thanks to goals by Dale Anderson (3) and Tony Stebbings (2).
