Navy grab their second win Division Three round-up
NAVY CLUB won their second game of the season after a closely-fought encounter with Aycliffe rivals Horndale Celtic.
Wayne Pratt (2), Craig Leadbitter, Michael Galloway and an own goal were on the scoresheet for the Navy Club.
And manager Ronnie Hewitson said: “It was a close, tight game and there wasn’t a lot between the sides. We missed a lot of chances but they had their opportunities as well.
“They took the lead in the second half as well, but we showed good character and composure, and that was great to see. We got two late goals to go ahead and that was just enough.” Graeme Carling (2) and Shaun Grant scored Horndale’s goals.
Meanwhile, Aycliffe Village continued their strong form with a 9-1 win at Bishop Masons. Morgan Fielding (3), Darren Griffiths (2), Marc Addy (2), Wayne Marram and Gary Donald were all on the scoresheet.
Leaders Fox and Hounds won 5-2 at Castle with goals by Jamie Martin (3), Michael Roberts (2) and Michael Lumley. Paul Thompson scored both goals for Castle.
Gareth Hodgson scored twice for EBAC as they won 5-1 at the Southerne Club. Damon Askew, Mark Owen and Craig Ellison were also on target. Antony Harrison scored for the Southerne.
Shildon Fox and Hounds won 6-1 at home to Masons United with goals by Mark Surtees (2), Jonathan Hart (2) and Michael Joice.
