VICTORIA AND CROXDALE LEAD AT THE TOP
Jackson Anderson Accountants Spennymoor Sunday League

VICTORIA and Croxdale steamed to the top of Division Two with thumping wins last week.
Croxdale hammered Ash Tree 12-0 thanks to goals by Iain Ambrosini (5), Gavin Bell (4) and Andy Stewart (3) to go top of the division.
Meanwhile, the Vic won 8-0 at North Briton thanks to goals by Adam Cunningham (3), Dave Grainger (2), Jason Greenland (2) and Mark Nelson.
“We’re hopeful for promotion this season,” said Vic manager Marcus Jayne. “We were a little disappointed we do it last year, but we’re hoping it can be our year this season and we’ve got off to the perfect start.”
Elsewhere in Division Two last week, Atlantic Bar were brought back down to earth with a bump when they were beaten 12-2 by Blevedere, who had Lee Nixon (4), Tim Hutchinson (4), John-Paul Greaves (2), Andrew Short and Steven Clough all on the scoresheet.
Half Moon grabbed their second win of the season with a 7-1 win at George & Dragon, Craig Edgar (2), Neal Parnaby (2), Paul Bayes (2) and Paul Moses getting the goals.
Quinns also recorded their second win of the campaign with a 2-0 victory at Green Tree, John-Paul Tallentire getting both goals, while Masons United drew 3-3 with Shildon Athletic. David Bush, Steven Alderson and Chris Larkman scored Masons’ goals, and Jamie Scaife (2) and Adam Potter were on target for Shildon.
In Division One last week, Masons Arms won a close, hard-fought game at home to Old Shildon, with Mickey Barrass and Ian Crow scoring Masons’ goals.
Gaffer Stuart Savage said: “It was very close and they fought all the way, but I think we just edged it and had the better of the first half especially, and I think we were deserved winners in the end.”

Meanwhile, Lakeside recorded their first win of the season with a 5-3 victory at Eldon Arms.
Some sloppy defending by Lakeside gifted Eldon an early two-goal lead, but goals by James Miller and Marc De Lucia drew the two sides level just before the break.
Lakeside then raced into a 5-2 lead with goals by Dave Neale (2) and Kelvin Smith, with Eldon grabbing their third ten minutes from the end.
Lakeside manager Stuart Hodgson said: “Although we were guilty of some sloppy marking at times I thought we played some good football and showed strong character in coming back from two goals down. The lads responded well and there were some pleasing performances throughout the team.”

Elsewhere, Christian Schofield, Billy McClacklen and Neil Davison were on target for Tudhoe United as they beat Hunwick Joiners 3-2. Sean Nicholson scored both Hunwick goals.
Voltigeur were 7-0 winners at Penny Gill, with Gary Bestford netting four goals. Phil Curry, Ryan Kiteley and Gary Dixon were on the scoresheet. Thorns were also 4-0 winners at Browney.

The game between Binchester Social Club and the Bay Horse was postponed.
