Shildon one up in Group of Death Division Three Cup
SHILDON Fox and Hounds drew first blood in the Division Three Cup’s so-called Group of Death.
Shildon won 6-0 at rivals Castle to get their campaign off to the best possible start as they also face crunch games against Merrington Fox and Hounds, Bishop Masons and the Navy Club.
Michael Roberts scored four goals, while Steven Hall and Ross Brown also chipped in with a goal each.
And Shildon Secretary Dave Owens says it’s probably the best his side have played all season.
“We played exceptionally well,” he said. “Darren Foster in the middle of midfield was particularly good.
“We haven’t been playing too well recently so it was good to produce a performance like this tp get us going again. The aim for us is to win the group, which would mean we’d avoid Aycliffe Village until the final.”
Meanwhile, Merrington Fox and Hounds won 2-1 at the Navy Club with goals by Sean Bent and Adrian Dee.
Both group B games (Aycliffe Village v Southerne Club and Horndale Celtic v Masons United) were postponed.
