Newcomers to Division Two Iron Horse went nap against Victoria winning 8-0 to enhance their reputation as favourites for the title.
Goals from Andy Kay (2), Sean Tarling (2), Chase McMullen, David Hanson, Marc De Luca and Callum Farley earned them top spot.
The other promoted side Shildon Fox also had an opening day win, 3-1 over Green Tree, where Dean Simpson, Andrew Tweddle and Stephen Hall scored before Alan Bell replied for the Tree with a last minute penalty.
The local derby between Hogans and Cricket Club ended all square at 2-2, Dean Cummins and Paul Walton finding the net for Hogans and Jonathan Millward (2) for Cricket Club.

Games in the third division were much closer as new look Cobblers Hall scraped home 4-3 against Southern Club.

Goals from Guy Starling, Gavin Bell (2) and Jamie Stott gave them the edge despite Lee Nixon (2) and Scott Hudson scoring for Southern.
George & Dragon were 3 up before EBAC started playing but they could only manage 2 goals in the second half.
“We played really well for 45 minutes but they came out in the second half and didn’t give us a minutes rest,” said Ron Hewitson of George and Dragon.
“They have a lot of young fit players and if they keep them together and play like that every week they will be challenging for the title.”
Robert Sowerby and Mark Owen scored for the home side and Mark Silvester (2) and Kevin O’Neil for the visitors. Newcomers Black Bull, with a young side, lost 3-1 to Bay Horse, where goals from Simon Hodgson, Matthew Saunders and player-manager veteran Doug Grant notched the third.
