FOUR Division One sides were dumped out of the League Cup by Division Two sides as the competition brought a handful of shocks.
Victoria beat Tudhoe United, Belvedere overcome the Bay Horse, Green Tree were winners at Hogans while it took a penalty shoot-out for Croxdale to eventually knock Browney out.
Division Two high-fliers Victoria, top of their table, beat Division One side Tudhoe, who had been enjoying some promising form this season.
Adam Cunningham broke the deadlock for the Vic after a goalless first half, but Christian Schofield leveled the scores.
Victoria then grabbed two quick-fire goals through Jason Greenland and Chris Jayne to guarantee their passage into the second round of the competition, despite a late second goal for Tudhoe by Billy McClacklan.
Vic Secretary Marcus Jayne said: “The lads played very well. I thought we did enough to win the game and were probably the better side on the day.”

Meanwhile, Division Two title-chasers Croxdale dumped Browney out of the League Cup to claim their first top-flight scalp of the season. See this week's Game of the Week feature.

Elsewhere, Belvedere were 2-1 winners over the Bay Horse thanks to goals by Chris Young and Jonathan Millward. Wayne Pratt scored for the Horse, while Green Tree won 3-1 at Hogans with goals by Kevin Stamp (2) and Barry Liddle.
Binchester Social Club were 3-1 winners at home to Old Shildon. John Wheatley (2) and Andrew Hodgson scored for Binny, while Paul Whensley netted Shildon’s goal.

Shildon Athletic beat Masons United 6-0 with goals by Jamie Scaiffe (3), Peter Duce (2) and Paul Gargett, while Voltigeur won 1-0 at Eldon Arms thanks to a Gary Dixon strike.
Hunwick Joiners were 3-2 winners at New Brancepeth after extra-time with goals by Ross Brown, Chris Race and Shaun Nicholson.

Thorns won 7-2 at Ash Tree with goals by Mark Nicholson (3), Stuart Rand, Michael Oliver, Andrew Richardson and Sean Longthorne. Steven Walton scored both goals for Ash.

North Briton won 5-1 at Horndale Celtic thanks to goals by Phil Judge (3), Tim Leadbitter and Kevin O’Neil. Graeme Carling scored Horndale’s goal.

The second round of the League Cup will consist of: Lakeside, Penny Gill, Half Moon, Southerne Club, Belvedere, Binchester SC, Green Tree, Shildon Athletic, Hunwick, Thorns, Voltigeur, North Briton, Croxdale, Victoria, Masons Arms/George & Dragon and Atlantic Bar/Quinns.
Meanwhile in league action last week, Lakeside jumped to third in Division One with a 4-0 win at Penny Gill. Steve Hepples (2), Marc De Lucia and an own goal were the scorers.

In Division Two, Half Moon also jumped to third with a 7-2 win at Atlantic Bar. Philippe Cortese and Paul Bailes chipped in with a brace apiece, while there were also goals by Richie Smith, Paul Moses and Tony Craddock.

• Meanwhile, three of the league’s teams are due to contest the third preliminary round of the Durham Sunday County Cup this Sunday (23rd October). Masons Arms have drawn Fishburn Beehive at home, Hunwick Joiners are at home to Stockton Roseworth and Masons United entertain Washington Dunlop. The league would like to wish all three teams the best of luck in their hopes of going through to the first round proper of the competition.

• The league is holding a Christmas Party at the Southerne Club in Newton Aycliffe on Friday 9th December. A Pie & Peas supper will be available and entertainment will be provided by top local band The Zoo, while the league’s annual Christmas Prize Draw will also be made. Tickets costing just £3 will be available to league members at the next meeting on Wednesday 2nd November at Belvedere WMC.
