Kelvin McIntosh Division Two Cup semi-final & league round-up

NEW BRANCEPETH marched into the final of the Division Two Cup with a 3-1 win at home to Eldon Arms in the semi-finals of the competition.

Anthony Holiday was on target twice for Brancepeth, while Lee Wilkinson also scored from the penalty spot, to set up their final with either Browney or Shildon Athletic. Gary George scored Eldon’s only goal.

Browney are due to play Shildon Athletic in the other semi-final on Sunday April 22.

In Division One league action last Sunday, Masons Arms edged nearer to the title with a 4-2 win at home to Middridge Bay Horse with goals by Liam McRoy, Lee Newby, Marc Costello and Tom Fothergill. Tony Stebbings and an own goal were on the Horse’s scoresheet.

Elsewhere, Croxdale rounded their season off with a 2-1 win at home to Hunwick Joiners thanks to goals by Craig Flowers and Andrew Smith. Paul Taylor scored Hunwick’s goal.

Tudhoe United also completed their season with an emphatic 10-1 win at Binchester Social Club thanks to goals by Christian Schofield (4), Paul Cantwell (3), Billy McClacklan, Arron McGarr and a curling free-kick by Stephen “the body” Blood, his first for the club. Graeme Atkinson scored Binny’s goal.

In Division Two last week, Hogans won their last game of the season in their bottom-of-the-table clash with Penny Gill, winning 2-1 with goals by Jason Colley and Paul Walton.
