Bay Horse edge five-goal Thorns battle Division One round-up
MIDDRIDGE Bay Horse just edged a close, five-goal scrap with Thorns to record their fifth league win of the season.
Tony Stebbings put the Horse 1-0 up before goals by Danny Lee and Shaun Longthorne put Thorns in the driving seat.
But Stebbings added two in the second half to complete an impressive hat-trick and a spirited comeback by Bay Horse.
“It was the best I my side has played,” said boss Ade Musgrave. “I was over the moon with them. We had the strongest side out for a number of weeks, probably all season, but we battled hard and when we went 2-1 down we never gave up.
“As a neutral it was a cracking game of football from both sides, but I think the second half was one-sided when we got back into it and eventually won it.”
Meanwhile, Masons Arms won 2-1 at home to Tudhoe with goals by Tom Fothergill and Kevin Sweeney. Billy McClacklan scored for Tudhoe.
Old Shildon won 5-1 at home to Voltigeur with goals by Craig Hutchinson (3) and Michael Davidson (2). Chris Pennal scored Volti’s goal.
Hunwick Joiners won 2-0 at Binchester Social Club thanks to a goal on either side of half-time by Andrew Howard.
