Tudhoe bounce back with win Division One round-up
TUDHOE UNITED bounced back from their recent woeful form with a good win at Voltigeur.
Tudhoe stamped their mark on the top flight with a 2-1 win at Tudhoe last month, but failed to win another game since and slipped down the table.
But they bagged their second win of the season at home to Voltigeur despite going behind twice.
Gary Dixon put Volti ahead before Billy McClacklan equalised before half-time.
Mark Priestly then put Volti ahead but Tudhoe replied with goals by Christian Schofield, Allan Barratt and a bullet header by Gary White, an early contender for goal of the season, before Arron McGarr wrapped it up with the fifth.
Tudhoe secretary James Curley said: “We haven’t been playing well at all in the last few games, and that was after playing some of our best football against Thorns. We played quite well against Voltigeur and the aim now is to just play as well as we can and hopefully win as many as we can – we’re not going to win the league so it’s up to us to make it difficult for the others to win it!”
Elsewhere, Old Shildon won 2-0 at home to Binchester Social Club with goals by John Poulter and Neil Robinson.
Masons Arms won 4-1 at Thorns thanks to goals by Steven Fothergill (2), Liam McRoy and Lee Newby. Martin Longthorne scored for Thorns.
