Victoria edge Penny Gill clash Division Two round-up
PROMOTION hopefuls Victoria just edged their close encounter with Penny Gill thanks to a goal 15 minutes from time.
Browney and New Brancepeth continue to dominate the top two spots, but the Vic maintained their push after striker Michael Simmons netted the only goal in the 65th minute.
Boss Marcus Jayne said: “We played really well and I think we deserved the win. We’ve dropped a few points and I’m honest when we don’t play well, but we played well and although it was a close game I think we just edged it.”
Elsewhere, New Brancepeth won 7-0 at home to Belvedere thanks to goals by Antoney Holiday (3), Eddie Watson (2), Craig Hindmarch and Phil Wilkinson.
Peter Duce was on target for Shildon Athletic as they drew 1-1 at home to Half Moon, with JohnTempleton scoring for Half Moon. Green Tree won 4-2 at Eldon Arms.
