TUDHOE INTO THE LAST FOUR
Bowman Anderson Accountants Spennymoor Sunday League
DIVISION ONE side Tudhoe United booked their place in the League Cup semi-finals last week.
Tudhoe beat Second Division side North Briton 5-0, with prolific striker Billy McClacklin grabbing four goals and Andrew Thompson one.
Winger Tony Lennox said: “We’re now looking forward to a semi-final and the prospect of getting to a final. We played well in what was a fairly one-sided game, and certainly deserved to go through.”
Meanwhile, Loves guaranteed their place in the final four with a comfortable 6-0 win over an in-form Salvins side.
“We played very well,” said Secretary Keith Flowers. “We had the upper hand most of the game, but then we had a good strong squad out and we always lift our games for cup games.”
Thorns are also through to the semi’s after they won 4-1 at Shildon Athletic, Steve Smith (2), Lee Atkinson and Anthony Stewart scoring the goals.
The only other quarter-final tie – between Grand and Old Shildon – was postponed.
The final of the League Cup will be played on Sunday May 2.

In the other cup competitions, Newton Aycliffe face Old Shildon in the Division One Cup Final at Spennymoor United’s Brewery Field on Sunday April 18.
Voltigeur play either Masons Arms or Masons United (tie to be settled this Sunday, February 22), on Friday April 9.
The B&A Trophy final is due to be played on Sunday April 25. And the Invitation Cup Final, should the league decide to hold the competition, will be played on Friday April 30.
Meanwhile, only two games survived the cup programme and weather in Division One last week.
Browney beat Horndale 4-3 at home with goals by Dale Phillips (2), Steven Wallace and Phillip Pounton.
Lakeside drew 2-2 with Green Tree after the home side – playing away due to their deteriorated pitch – had taken a 2-0 lead through two goals from striker Wayne Marram. Andrew Appleton and Darren Dye earned a point for the Tree.
Newton Aycliffe’s game against Postchaise was postponed.

In Division Two, Masons Arms went top-of-the-table after Hunwick’s home game with Eldon Arms was postponed. The Arms capitalised and took top spot with a 3-0 win over Belvedere – Justin Fox, Gary Heavysides and Andrew Elliott scoring the goals.

Elsewhere, Victoria jumped three places up to third with a 4-2 win at Cumby Arms, while Middlestone Moor beat Boot & Shoe 3-1 with goals by Michael Symons (2) and Gavin Codd.

• The league’s next meeting will be held on Wednesday March 3 at the Masons Arms in Shildon, from 8pm.
