Browney slip lets Brancepeth go top Division Two round-up
BROWNEY slipped up to allow New Brancepeth to go top of the division.
The Division Two leaders were beaten 3-2 at Eldon Arms – and Brancepeth’s 1-0 win at home to Half Moon saw them go top on goal difference.
Paul Littlewood scored the all-important goal for Brancepeth in the first half.
Their Secretary Brian Stewart said: “Browney have a game in hand but it was an important result it’s good to go top of the league.
“Our result against Masons Arms a few weeks ago just turned our season around and the lads are playing really well.”
Scott Hunter, Gary George and Darren Hewitson were on target for Eldon Arms as they came from behind to beat Browney 3-2 – their first league defeat of the season.
“We were over the moon,” said Eldon Secretary David Leary. “The pitch made it difficult, but it was the same for both sides. We managed to pull it back and then they missed a penalty, which enabled us to go on and win it – we were hanging on in the end but it’s a cracking result for us.”
All other games in Division Two were postponed.
