TITLE CHASE CONTINUES

MASONS ARMS and Hunwick Joiners continued their chase for the title with league wins last week.
And they were boosted by championship rivals Old Shildon dropping two points with a 2-2 draw against Tudhoe United.
Kevin Dodds doubled his season’s goal tally with seven against Postchaise as the league-leaders recorded a 9-1 win. John Savage and Phil Thompson were also on target, with Paul Gargett scoring for Postchaise.
Meanwhile, Hunwick won 4-2 at Salvins thanks to a brace apiece from Stephen Howe and Darren Wilson. Andrew Winter and Kevin Gilham scored for Salvins.
Elsewhere, Horndale won 5-2 over Voltigeur with goals by Carl Hodgson, David Tedder, Tony Stebbings, Kyle Allen and Stuart Fawcett. Chris Pennal scored for the Volti.
The match between Browney and Lakeside was postponed.
In Division Two last week, Croxdale stepped up their emphatic recent form with a thumping 13-1 win at Gainford to move up to second in the league.
League-leaders Binchester Social Club, meanwhile, still top the division after drawing 3-3 at Green Tree. John Wheatley, Chris Pickles and Scott Smith all scored for Binny, but Andrew Walton, Paul Shaw and Darren Dye netted for the Tree to give them a valuable point.
Meanwhile, Eldon Arms beat Cumby Arms 8-1 with goals by Andrew Sams (3), David Leary (3), Carl Dargue and Tony Iveson. Eric Appleby scored Cumby’s only goal.
Ash Tree won 3-2 at Masons United with goals by Shaun Mayo, Glyn Porter and Steven Walton. Paul Gibson and Stuart Boddy scored for Masons.
Victoria won 3-0 at Shildon Athletic thanks to goals by Jason Greenland, John Templeton and Adam Cunningham.
The match between North Briton and Atlantic Bar was postponed.
• Clubs are reminded that they must pay for their allocation of raffle tickets for the Christmas Prize Draw at the next meeting.
The next league meeting will take place at the North Briton, Aycliffe Village, Newton Aycliffe, on Wednesday 8th December 2004, from 8pm.
