Binny off the mark with first win
League round-up

BINCHESTER Social Club finally recorded their first league win of the season in Division One.

After struggling for most of the season with missing players through injuries and suspensions, Binchester were able to bag their first points of the season with a 6-3 win at the Bay Horse.

Chris Pickles scored four and there was one each from Graeme Atkinson and David Hunter.

And a relieved Steve Sutton said: “I thought that win was never going to come! We’ve been struggling all season, with a number of players missing, and this was the closest we had to our strongest team, although we still had no subs! But it was a big relief to get the first win – hopefully we can follow it up with a few more now.” Dale Anderson (2) and Kyle Allen scored Bay Horse’s goals.

Meanwhile, Quinns won 6-0 at home to Voltigeur with goals by Craig Parker (2), Chris Hodgson, Dean Grayson, Steven Quinn and Liam Clough.

In Division Two, Lee Nixon scored all four goals for Belvedere as they beat Penny Gill 4-0, while Gary George was on target for Eldon Arms as they drew 1-1 at home to Green Tree.

In Division Three, the Navy Club secured their fourth league win of the season with a 4-2 victory over Masons United.

Kevin O’Neil (2), Wayne Pratt and Chris Small scored the goals for the Navy, and their boss Ronnie Hewitson said: “We played well in the first half but they came back at us and pulled it back to 3-1. And although we went further ahead and, thankfully, held on to the win, there wasn’t a lot between the two sides.” Chris Larkman scored both Masons goals.
