Shildon book semi-final tie Division One round-up
OLD SHILDON booked themselves a semi-final tie with the North Briton after a battling win over Croxdale.
Brent Mailer had given Croxdale the lead only for Shildon to race into a 3-1 lead thanks to a Neil Robinson hat-trick, despite going e man down after having one sent off.
Kev Hepburn pulled a late goal back for Croxdale, but it was too little too late.
Shildon’s Martin Hedley said: “They missed a penalty in the second half and I think that was the turning point. Both teams battled hard and they made it difficult for us, they pressure sides and they put us under pressure.
“Considering we were down to 10 men it was a good, battling performance by us and it was pleasing to get to the semi-finals – now we can look forward to another tough game against the North Briton.”
The winners of Masons Arms and Quinns will play at home to Thorns in the other semi-final.
In the only Division One game last week, Thorns won 4-0 at home to North Briton with goals by Shaun Longthorne, Antony Stewart, Stephen Richardson and Danny Lee.
