Shildon muster second half fightback
Division One round-up

OLD SHILDON produced an impressive, second-half fightback to grab their third league win of the season.

Stuttering Tudhoe United had taken a 2-1 half-time lead after Michael Davidson originally put Shildon ahead from the spot – only for Allan Barratt and Billy McClacklan to pen them back.

But second half goals by Davison, another penalty, Anthony Moss and inspirational substitutes Sean Wilson, Paul Whensley and Paul Latcham made sure of the three points for Shildon.

Dave Hedley said: “It was very much a game of two halves, but we were much better in the second half and I think deserved it in the end. We’ve got a couple of new signings so we’re starting to do quite well now. Tudhoe are a good side so we were pleased with this result.”

Meanwhile, North Briton won 5-3 at Binchester Social Club with goals by Marc De Lucia (2), Anthony Brockley, Lee Gray and Paul Barnes. Graham Atkinson scored twice and David Hunter once for Binchester.

Gary Dixon, Chris Pennal, Mark Priestly and Kevin Priestly were all on target for Voltigeur as they drew 4-4 at home to Croxdale. Andrew Stewart and Iain Ambrosini both scored twice for Croxdale.
