Jonathan Millward grabbed two and there was one apiece from Jeff Dunn, Brendan Mullen, Jeff Alderson and Paul Walton as they beat Browney 6-2. And boss Peter Baker crowed: “I was very pleased with our performance and attitude. After a poor run we’ve won our last two games convincingly, which shows good bouncebackability. Now hopefully we can climb the table in the next few weeks.” Peter Boucher scored both goals for Browney. Elsewhere in Division One, Thorns were 3-0 winners at Salvins, while Tudhoe United beat Lakeside 4-1. In Division Two, Masons United won 4-2 at home to North Briton thanks to goals by Chris Larkman (2), Paul Gibson and Stewart Boddy. Gary Donald and Mark Hodges scored for the Brit. The match between Cumby Arms and Gainford and Atlantic Bar and Victoria were postponed. Meanwhile, Hunwick Joiners progressed to the third round of the B&A Trophy with a dramatic 7-4 win over rivals Masons Arms, but needed extra-time to do it. James Melville (4), Ian Richardson (2) and Martin Holt scored for Hunwick, while Anthony Warnett (2), Kevin Sweeney and Kevin Dodds scored for the Masons. Elsewhere in the second round of the competition, Shildon Athletic won 5-3 at Belvedere with goals by Ross Brown (2) Jamie Scaife (2) and Geoff Fieldson. Lee Nixon (2) and Timmy Hutchinson scored for Belvedere. Horndale won 4-2 at Ash Tree after extra-time. Tony Stebbings (2) and Kyle Allen scored for Horndale, with Steven Bowen getting both goals for Ash Tree. Croxdale won 3-0 at Eldon Arms with goals by Philip Wilkinson (2) and James Richardson. Old Shildon progressed to the second round of the B&A Trophy with a 4-1 win at Green Tree, with Paul Whensley, Adam Pinkney, Paul Wilson and John Poulter scoring the goals. Gavin McIntyre scored for the Tree. The first round match between Binchester Social Club and Voltigeur was postponed. That means those teams already in round three are: Shildon Athletic, Horndale, Croxdale, Hunwick Joiners and Thorns. The outstanding round two games are: Grand v Old Shildon, Binchester SC/Voltigeur v Tudhoe Utd and Salvins v Browney.
