MASONS AND HUNWICK BOSS TOP FLIGHT Jackson Anderson Accountants Spennymoor Sunday League NEWLY-PROMOTED Masons Arms and Hunwick Joiners are leading the Division One title race as the hectic mid-week fixture programme draws to a close. Masons continued their 100% record with a 3-2 win at Loves on Tuesday night – Philip Thompson, Kevin Dodds and Steven Fothergill grabbing a goal apiece. Brent Mailer scored both for the Loves. Hunwick, meanwhile, won their fourth game of the campaign (out of five games) last Sunday, winning 4-3 at champions Thorns. Lee Genner (2), Shaun Nicholson and Chris Race scored for Hunwick, with Andrew Richardson getting two for Thorns and Shaun Longthorne one. Hunwick then followed that up with a 4-3 win at Postchaise on Tuesday night, placing them second on goal difference only. Elsewhere in Division One on Tuesday, the Grand won 2-1 at Browney thanks to goals from Scott Wright and James Gregory. Peter Boucher scored for Browney. Tudhoe United were 3-2 winners at Salvins, Christian Schofield, Billy McClacklan and Allan Barratt scoring their goals. Paul Jones scored both for Salvins. Thorns won 5-2 at home to Lakeside with goals by Anthony Stewart (2), Lee Atkinson, Martin Longthorne and Ian Woodhall. Marc De Lucia and Steve Hepples scored for Lakeside. Old Shildon won 5-1 at Voltigeur with goals by Paul Latchman (2) John Poulter, Robert Wilson and Adam Pinkney. Mark Hastwell scored for the Volti. Last Sunday in Division One, Old Shildon won 3-0 at home to Salvins – James Hedley, Paul Latchman and Anthony Moss grabbing the goals – while Lakeside were 6-1 winners over Loves thanks to goals by Marc De Lucia (3), Steve Hepples (2) and Martin Walker. Brent Mailer scored for the Loves. Horndale were 5-3 winners over Postchaise, while the games between Masons Arms and Voltigeur and Tudhoe Utd and Browney were postponed. Victoria are three points clear at the top of Division Two after beating Middlestone Moor 5-1 at home with goals by Adam Cunningham (3), Craig Botterill and Jason Greenland. Jordan Bulmer was on target for Middlestone. Elsewhere, Croxdale narrowly beat Ash Tree 1-0 thanks to a Guy Starling strike, while Binchester Social Club and Belvedere played out a 2-2 draw, with Lee Furber amd Carl Jordan getting Binchester’s goals and Kevin Priestly and Lee Nixon notching for the Bel. John Airey scored twice and Gary Temple once for the Cumby Arms as they drew 3-3 at home to Atlantic Bar, with Bryan McCourt (2) and Craig Morley getting their goals. Green Tree and Masons United drew 4-4. Darren Dye (2), Barry Liddle and Paul Shaw were on target for the Tree, with Chris Larkman getting a hat-trick for United and Dean Merchant one.
