A SPIRITED fightback almost saw the North Briton claw their way back from a three-goal deficit, only to see it crumbled in the second half.
The Bay Horse caught the Brit on the hop and raced into an unbelievable lead inside the first three minutes.
Tony Stebbings netted after just 30 seconds, and then Dan Robinson made it two after a minute.
Kyle Allen completed the hammer-blow start to the game with the Horse’s third after just three minutes.
Dave Clay pulled a goal back before Andy Clay scored an impressive free-kick to pull it back to 3-2 at the break.
But Michael Cairns added a fourth for the Horse to virtually kill the game off, although Andy Clay grabbed another late consolation for the Brit.
Horse boss Adrian Musgrave crowed: “We just got at them from the off and they couldn’t deal with it. We kicked off and scored, they kicked off and we just took the ball off them and scored.
“They still seemed to be getting their shape but we were still going for them and got the third and I think that’s when we took the foot off and just thought the game was going to be easy.
“Credit to the Brit for fighting back, they also hit the bar at 3-2 so I think at 3-3 it would have been a very different game. But I was pleased with our performance and the way we stuck at it in the second half.”
Brit manager Stuart Hodgson admitted: “Obviously I’m not very happy with the start of the game and going down by three goals after three minutes. It gave us a mountain to climb for the rest of the game.
“Credit to the Bay horse for the way they came straight at us but I also have to give some credit to my boys for showing some great character in the way the battled back to nearly snatch a point at the death after such a dismal start.”
