Tree shaping up nicely says boss
Sunday 25th March 2007 Division Two Green Tree 3 Carrick 2, Ellison Hogans 0
GREEN TREE boss Barry Liddle is pleased with his side’s season despite promotion to Division Two being mathematically impossible.
Liddle watched his fourth-placed side win their seventh league game of the season against Hogans – and although the Tree still have four games remaining, they can’t catch the top two.
But he said: “It’s been a good season for us and we still have quite a few left to play, so it’s been OK. We’ve got the best side together that we’ve had for a while – it’s really been about building for next season and that’s what we’ve done.”
Craig Ellison put his side 1-0 up against Hogans before Matthew Carrick doubled the lead before half-time. Carrick added his second after the break to complete the scoring.
“I think once we got the first goal we took control,” added Liddle. “They seemed to be struggling for a side and things went for us in the game.”
Elsewhere in Division Two, Eldon Arms won 3-2 at home to Penny Gill with goals by Gary George, David Hall and Tom Wilkinson.
League leaders Browney also won 10-0 at Victoria thanks to goals by Karl Turner (2), Andrew Nicholson (2), John Kidd (2), Stephen Wallace, Andrew Clennel, Stuart Kitching and Robert Barron.
