Sunday 25th February 2007 Division Three Cup, Week Four Shildon Fox and Hounds 4 Lumley, Foster, Brown, Roberts Bishop Masons 1 Bowes
SHILDON Fox and Hounds maintained their grip on group A of the Division Three Cup with a comfortable win at home to Bishop Masons.
The third division league leaders raced into a 3-0 half-time lead with goals by Michael Lumley, veteran midfielder Darren Foster and Ross Brown.
And although Masons pulled one goal back through David Bowes, another Shildon goal by Michael Roberts made sure of the win.
Robbie Appleby, caretaker manager for the game, said: “We played well in the first half and our lead at half-time showed that. We had a depleted squad due to a few injuries and lads being away so we had to use some of our younger players, who did very well.
“But Masons came back at us after half-time and I’d have to say they were probably the better team in the second half, although overall I think we just deserved it.”
Meanwhile, Castle won their week four game in the same group, 6-0 at the Navy Club with goals by Paul Thompson (3), Mark Thompson and Mark Gibbons.
The Southerne Club won their week four, group B match at home to EBAC, Lee Marshall netting the only goal in a 1-0 victory.
