Shildon put four past Arms Sunday 24th September 2006
Division Two Shildon Athletic 4 Mallen 2, Ross 2 Eldon Arms 0
SHILDON ATHLETIC boosted their promotion hopes with what appeared a comfortable win at home to Eldon Arms.
Shildon bagged their second Division Two win of the season but were made to work for it during a close first half.
Chris Ross gave the home side a slender, one-goal advantage before half-time, and it wasn’t until the second half when Shildon stamped their authority on the game
Craig Mallen netted two goals and then Ross got his second before having a third disallowed towards the end.
Shildon boss Alan Robertson said: “It was very close in the first half and they took a bit of breaking down, but we got the goals in the second half and it was good just to get our second win. We can hopefully build on that now.”
Elsewhere in Division Two, Browney won 4-0 at Penny Gill with goals by Karl Turner, Robert Barren, John Kidd and Paul Allison.
Belvedere won 4-2 at home to Victoria with goals by Lee Nixon (3) and Brendan Mullen. Michael Simmings and James Smith scored for the Vic.
Green Tree won 5-2 at Half Moon thanks to strikes by Lee Walton and Matthew Carrick. Kris Kavanagh scored Half Moon’s goal.
Philip Wilkinson (2), Eddie Watson, Craig Hindmarch, Anthony Holiday and Shaun Davis were all on target for New Brancepeth as they won 6-1 at Hogans. Scott Wright scored for Hogans.
