Browney bounce back from goal down
Sunday 14th January 2007 Division Two Browney 4
Turner 3, Baron Half Moon 1 Bayles
DIVISION Two leaders Browney continued their promotion drive with another win – this time at home to Half Moon, but not without a scare.
Paul Bayles put Half Moon 1-0 up in the first half, netting his second goal in as many games since returning from a broken ankle, and the visitors had chances to add to their lead before Browney drew level through Karl Turner.
Turner added a second to put his side 2-1 up before half-time, and then Robbie Baron netted a third, with Turner completing his hat-trick in the second-half to make it 4-1.
“They started well and gave us a good test in the first half,” said Browney’s Gavin Mudd. “They had the wind with them, and they had chances to go a few goals up – if it wasn’t for our goalkeeper it could have been a different game.”
Meanwhile, elsewhere in Division Two, Belvedere won 5-3 at Hogans thanks to goals by Alan Lamb (2), Timmy Hutchinson, Andrew Trotter and Lee Nixon.
New Brancepeth won 3-1 at Victoria with goals by Philip Wilkinson, Eddie Watson and Anthony Holiday. Michael Marsden scored the Vic’s goal.
Green Tree won 3-2 at home to Shildon Athletic with goals by Richard Smith, Glenn Thompson and Lee Walton. Peter Duce and Chris Ross scored Shildon’s goals.
