Masons dent EBAC promo hopes Sunday 10th December 2006

BISHOP MASONS notched their fourth league win of the season to dent EBAC’s promotion hopes.
In quite literally a game of two halves, Masons raced into a four-goal lead by half-time thanks to a Kenny Melville hat-trick and one from Matthew Saunders.
But EBAC got to grips after the break and pulled two back with goals by Damon Askew and John Wheatley.
But Masons managed to hold out for the three points, despite striker Simon Hodgson’s howling second-half misses.
“He could have killed the game off for us,” said Masons assistant manager Steven Wallace. “We haven’t been playing well lately, although this was an improvement. But we’re still not quite there yet and have a way to go before we’re where we want to be.”
Elsewhere in Division Three, Fox and Hounds leapfrogged Aycliffe Village – whose game against league-leaders Shildon Fox was postponed – into second spot with a 4-2 win at home to the Navy Club. Stuart Rand and Mark Surtees both scored two goals for the Spennymoor side, while Wayne Pratt scored both goals for Navy.
Horndale Celtic won 6-4 at home to Masons United with goals by Graeme Carling (4), Steven Watson and Fred Wood.
