Shildon season back on track
Sunday 3rd September 2006 Division One Binchester Social Club 1 Atkinson Old Shildon 3 Place, Hedley, Wilson
OLD SHILDON came from behind to chalk their second league win of the campaign against a luckless Binchester Social Club. The home side took a first-half lead through Graham Atkinson before Darren Place netted Shildon’s equalisr before the break. And second-half goals by James Hedley and Paul Wilson gave them the win. “It was a good result for us,” said Shildon’s Dave Hedley. “After getting the draw against Thorns last week, it was good to get three points after the disappointing defeat against Masons Arms on the first day of the season. “The lads were pleased with the three points – and we can hopefully take that into our season from now on.” Binchester’s Steve Sutton said: “We had no luck with injuries after four of our players all went down, one with a broken arm inside the first five minutes and another with severe ligament problems. The game itself was a good, tight match – we just had a bad ten-minute spell when they took the lead and everything went downhill from there.”
