Shildon edge tight Hunwick clash Sunday 4th March 2007
Division One Hunwick 0 Old Shildon 1 Brown
OLD SHILDON just edged a close game with Hunwick Joiners thanks to a second half strike by Anthony Brown.
The heroics of Hunwick’s goalkeeper kept the home side in it until Brown’s goal 20 minutes from full-time bagged all three points and Shildon’s tenth league win of the season.
Midfielder Martin Hedley said: “It was a very close game. Their goalkeeper had an excellent game with a man-of-the-match performance. But credit to Hunwick, they battled well right to the end and the scoreline showed just how close it was. They attacked well and always looked dangerous on the break, without really creating any clear-cut chances, but it was a good result for us.”
Elsewhere in Division One last week, Tudhoe United won 4-2 at Middridge Bay Horse with goals by Billy McClacklan (2), Arran McGarr and Paul Leadbitter. Darren Scott and David Teder scored for the Horse.
Quinns won 3-1 at Thorns with goals by Craig Parker (2) and Chris Hodgson. Tommy Parkin scored Thorns’ goal.
Masons Arms won 3-0 at Voltigeur thanks to goals by John Savage, Carl Tyers and Lee Atkinson.
Andrew Stewart and Karl Lamb were on target for Croxdale as they won 2-1 at the North Briton, who had Marc De Lucia on the scoresheet.
